Contribution to the UN Congress and the UN Commission

UNAFEI attends the UN Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (a functional commission of the Economic and Social Council, hereinafter "the Commission") held every spring in Vienna, and reports the outcome of its technical assistance programmes, research and surveys to the Commission. In addition, UNAFEI contributes to the UN by making various suggestions in terms of the establishment and implementation of the UN Crime Prevention Programme.

UNAFEI also actively takes part in the UN Congress on the Prevention of Crime and the Treatment of Offenders (held every five years, hereinafter "the Congress"), including the coordination of a workshop which is one of the main programmes of the Congress.

UNAFEI coordinated a workshop on the topic of "Crimes Related to the Computer Network" at the 10th Congress held in Vienna in 2000, and "Measures to Combat Economic Crime, including Money Laundering" at the 11th Congress held in Bangkok in 2005.

Mr. Antonio Maria Costa" UNAFEI, one of the institutes comprising the United Nations Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Programme Network, and with the longest history has extended essential support to the activities of the United Nations in the field of crime prevention and criminal justice. I look forward to our continued cooperation in the future."
